Thank you, Rep. Theresa Bonoan-David for withdrawing HB 6195!
I was heading home and listening to TV Patrol on DZMM when Henry Omaga Diaz’s familiar voice reported a piece of good news: Manila 4th District Representative Maria Theresa Bonoan-David had conveyed to the media her intention to withdraw her own bill.
Based on the said news report, the congresswoman said that her only intention was to help the OFWs but that this was misunderstood. Hindi lang daw nagkaintindihan.
This corner thanks fellow blogger The Filipino Scribe (www.rightonthemark.wordpress.com) for posting the letter below and sharing the link via Facebook:
Let’s hope that this entire experience will open her eyes to the need to consult first, research more, and file a bill more suited to the needs of her constituents.
Madam Theresa, thank you for listening to our sentiments. We applaud your decision to withdraw your own measure. If you need our help in formulating a better and more relevant bill, just let us know.
As for us, the controversy over HB 6195 was also instructive on how we as a sector can unite behind a common cause when the need to defend OFW rights arises.
We found our voice and declared our position. In unity, our beloved OFWs emerged victorious.
To all those who took a proactive stance against HB 6195 in Facebook, Twitter and by posting comments here, let me share the music video below with you:
Hindi pa tapos ang laban para sa mga karapatan at benepisyo ng mga OFWs.
Ayos lang, basta’t magkakasama tayo.
