OFWs show solidarity for Jessica Sanchez!

(BREAKING NEWS: Jessica Sanchez will perform against Phillip Phillips for the American Idol title next week! She made it to the Final 2! This makes her the first American with Asian-Mexican heritage to reach the Am Idol Finals! Best of luck to Joshua Ledet, who sang his heart out each time he was onstage.)

Yesterday, around 70 Jessica Sanchez fans coming from different OFW families gathered at the spacious coffee shop of the Kabayan Hotel along EDSA Pasay City for an impromptu viewing party to show the sector’s solidarity for Ms. Jessica Sanchez.

The American Idol telecast set at 6 pm was eagerly awaited by our OFW mommies, sons, and daughters. Joselito “Jeffrey” Lord of the Blas F. Ople Center and Dr. Ernita Santos of the Advocates for OFWs and Families’ Welfare, Inc. served as our emcees. Kabayan Hotel’s management was kind enough to donate t-shirts and umbrellas to perk up the night as raffle prizes.

Of course, the OFW families cheered Jessica full throttle, screaming and waving colorful balloons after every song, and every positive comment from the 3 judges.

Before we parted ways, we agreed to: 1) Pray hard for Jessica to enter the Am Idols finals and, 2) if she does make it, for the OFW families to regroup with a much bigger force next week for the live telecast of the Am Idol performance show and finals.

Our prayers were answered. Jessica is in the top 2! If you are an OFW family member or an ex-OFW or an OFW on vacation, please call up the Ople Center at 8335337 and/or 8339562 to be a part of our OFW viewing party for the Am Idol finals. Go Jessica! 🙂
